The Germantown Municipal School District (GMSD) takes a great deal of pride in student and staff wellness. The initiatives and challenges that we roll out, through the Department of Coordinated School Health (CSH), serve to benefit overall enhancement of every component of fitness and health. 
The Biggest Loser competition is an annual weight loss challenge for GMSD employees only. We understand that each person is unique and we would never want to critique or criticize our fellow Mustangs, but if they decide to make some changes, then we want to be there to support them! This contest will see staff members work diligently over an 8 week span to see how many pounds they can shed. The end result should be an individual goal that should be measured in increments. Set small goals and push yourself to reach those goal! We'll be there to support you along the way!

After deciding to join the challenge, make plans to attend the official weigh-in. A scale will be provided to each GMSD building to avoid having to travel across the district. The scale will be in your building for an entire day and you can weigh-in on your own (during your free-time).

In order to be successful in anything you do, you must be willing to reflect on your goals and make the necessary adjustments along the way! To be successful when it comes to losing weight, you need to define a realistic long-term and short term goal. Celebrate the successes you achieve along the way, no matter how small they appear to be! Let's look at a realistic versus an unrealistic weight loss goal for an 8 week span.
  • Unrealistic long-term goal: 220 lb man wants to lose 100 lbs in 8 weeks. 
  • Realistic long-term goal: 220 lb man wants to lose 30 lbs in 8 weeks.
  • Unrealistic short-term goal: 190 lb woman wants to lose 10 lbs in 1 week.
  • Realistic short-term goal: 190 lb woman wants to lose 3-5 lbs in one week.
*Refine your goals along the way! It's ok to adjust your goals, both short and long term!
