Lesson: The Dynamic Duo
Grade(s): K-5
Skills: Team-building and fitness
Description: Students will be separated into teams. Teams will attempt to complete all 12 of the dynamic duo challenges. The first 4 challenges are to be completed one person at a time. Challenges 5-12 require to teammates to complete, but each group member must participate before moving onto the next challenge. If a pool noodle piece drops, then the student(s) must complete 2 push-ups. Students must walk the perimeter created in order to complete the challenge and earn a wristband (point).

Equipment Random items that can be used as props (i.e. frisbee, poles, clipboards, notebook, milk crates), sculptor and clay images.
Description: Students will have to work in groups to complete the task of analyzing an image and making a life-sized representation based on what they perceive. One student from each group will be "clay" and this student cannot move unless the "sculptors" on their team moves them. Props can be used to allow more creativity and enhance the artistic creations!

DESCRIPTION: Students will be separated into groups of 4-5 each. Students will have to work together to strategically moves pipes with a golf ball inside from starting line to finish line. Ball must remain in pipes from start to finish. If ball falls out of pipes students must start over.

Description: Students will use process of elimination to figure out a teacher created pattern to get through the grid. Students will start on one end of the grid and must exit the other side by moving in the pre-determined pattern they will figure out through trial and error. Students will select a box to stand in and if it's the correct choice, then they will get a thumbs up from teacher. A thumbs down means wrong spot was chosen and they go to end of the line. Students can not talk, but can point to spots they should move to.

Description: Students will hold onto the outer rim of their ship (hula hoop) and will walk slowly on the teachers command. When the signal "shipwreck" is given, students must drop their ship and get all teammates into the ship. Groups are trying to do this faster than the group they're competing against. Students can come up with strategies on how to get in the hoop fastest. Allow for experimentation and let student's creativity come out!

EQUIPMENT: Two exercise mats, poly spots or river stones, and scooter with a rope attached.
DESCRIPTION: Students will be required to work with a group of their peers to complete the task at hand, crossing the toxic river. The game is set up in 3 phases and will require different equipment for each round. Groups will be timed on how long it will take them to get their entire team from one side of the river to the other side without their feet touching the ground. Student's will have to use the 3 key elements of team building to achieve success, which are communication, listening, and application of strategies.

Students can only bring one beanbag back to their cone at a time and must cooperate with their team in order to accomplish this task. Students must return all beanbags back to playing area if their tower falls over. Team that makes the highest stack wins!

Description: Students will stand facing each other (on opposite sides of a long PVC pipe). Students can only use their index finger to hold up the helium stick and attempt to lower it to the ground. Students start the game by holding the helium stick off the ground and attempt to lower it to the ground at the same time. Students can only use index fingers and can't grab the stick or drop it.
