Lesson: Personal High-Jinx
Grade(s): 3-5
Skills: Throwing for accuracy, strategy, fitness
Description: Upon entering gym, students will immediately read directions and complete the various challenges (4 of them) in order as many times as possible. Students must rotate positions on each attempt and try to complete all 4 challenges. Roll dice into hoop, bounce or throw super 70 ball into bucket, bounce or throw large gator ball into bucket, and throw frisbee into hoop. Each teammate gets a wristband each time all challenges are complete.

Description: Students will stand facing their opponent in a squatting position with both hands on their head. Students will have a dome shaped cone on the floor between them. On the signal (music stops or whistle) the students will try to grab the cone before their opponent does. Students play best of 3 and the winner will find a new opponent to challenge.

Description: Students will have to complete team-building challenges given to them by the teacher without talking. The challenges will consist of ordering the class from shortest to tallest; ordering the class from shortest hair to longest hair, ordering the class alphabetical by last name.

Activity: Hero vs. Villain

Description: Students are separated into groups of 6-7. One student is selected as the hero (wears a scarf tucked into back of shirt) and another is the villain. The villain must try to grab the scarf from the hero while the team moves around in a circle to protect the hero. The team will be holding hands and moving in a circle. Teams can't let go of hands, but strategy is encouraged!

Students must rearrange the group to where the order is opposite (Ex: 6-1). Students can't step off the tape and must cooperatively aid their team members by stepping around them until they get in the new order.

Description: Students will enter the class and partner up. Groups will stand across from each other with one partner on one line and the other partner facing them on the other line. Each group will have one tennis ball. Student with the tennis ball will toss or throw the ball to their partner, whom will return it to them. If both throws were successful, then the group stays in the game. Students take one step back and continue the game. If a partner drops a toss/throw, then they both must sit down. Game continues until there's only one group remaining.
