Lesson: Shooting Stars
Grade(s): 3-5
Equipment: Poly spots of different colors (point values), 3-4 basketballs or playground balls, and basketball goal.
Description: Students will come out and stand on a spot of their choosing when it is their turn for their team. Students will keep attempting a shot until they make a basket. Students will get to take back the spot that they stand on when making a shot. Strategy and mathematics are critical for this game as the team with the highest point total at the end of the game wins. I usually place the spots with the lower point value closer to the goal and higher point value further from the goal.
